The roof of your house is not something that you look at too closely every day, but there is some maintenance you, as a homeowner, can do to make sure that it is kept in good condition.

After storms, cleaning out debris, such as, leaves and branches from the roof and out of the gutters will prevent water from collecting or backing up which will cause damage.

When doing this cleaning, it is better if you can avoid stepping on the roof, since this will cause damage as well. Using the right tools will allow you to reach most areas of the roof while standing on a secured ladder or scaffolding.

If there are larger objects that have fallen on your roof, such as big branches, you might want to have the roof inspected for structural damage.

A well maintained roof can last for a long time, while one not cared for can spell expensive repairs in the future.
