Have you ever wondered what happens to the moisture and smells that your cooking generates? If your stove has an exhaust fan above it, you might think that everything is taken care of, but this might not necessarily be the case.

The fan must be ducted to bring the exhaust outside the house, it can’t be filtered and discharged back into the room.

The fan needs to be installed following the manufacturers instructions and directly above the stove. The duct leading out should be sealed and fitted onto the fan. The duct should also be as straight as possible, tightly sealed all the way to the outside and securely fastened along the way. The duct should be made from copper, galvanized steel or stainless steel.

The exterior vent should be at least 10 feet from any air inlets and covered with a grille to prevent pests from entering the house.
