If you are about to bring home a puppy or recently got one, have you completed puppy-proofing your home?
You need to make sure that your puppy is not able to get into anything harmful. Puppies are super curious, and they don’t know what is good or bad for them.
For starters, make sure that they can’t access small items that may be choking hazards. Similar to a small child, puppies like to chew on anything and everything. Store away shoes and purses if you don’t want them to be chewed on. Make sure that plants are not within their reach. They can destroy them, but more importantly, some plants are very poisonous to dogs.
Hide electrical wires and cords. Also, if you have blinds on the windows, make sure the cords are raised off the ground and out of reach. Store chemicals safely away. You might want to get childproof locks on cabinets that contain harmful substances.
Puppies have accidents. If you have tile, wood, or laminate flooring, make sure to clean up any accident right away. This is especially true with laminate, as you do not want anything to seep under the flooring. If you have carpet, get a good cleaner that removes stains and odors.
