Do you know what you need to do to keep your children safe? As a parent, you probably spend a lot of time worrying about the safety of your children, but you might think that your home is a safe haven. Unfortunately, that is far from the truth. A large percentage of injuries happen in homes.

One thing that could be devastating is a fall out of a window. I’m sure you never would leave your child unattended in a room with an open window, but there are times when quick and determined children make it to a window unnoticed and then the worst happens.

While you could decide to never have your windows open, there are some things you could do to keep your children safe without denying them fresh air in the home.

One thing that some parents do is sliding the window down from the top instead of from the bottom. While you will have a hard time preventing bugs from coming in, it will make it so your child couldn’t get out as well. Another option is to get a lock that will only allow the window to open a certain amount.

As an added security, some parents have chosen to ensure there are bushes and soft ground underneath all their windows, just in case the worst happens.
